The Hume Society is pleased to announce its thirty-fifth annual conference, to be held August 6-10, 2008 in Iceland, hosted by the University of Akureyri.

We are looking for papers in all areas of Hume studies. The following are the special themes of this conference:

Belief and Sentiment
Passion and Value

Papers should be no more than thirty minutes reading length with self-references deleted for blind reviewing; the author's name should appear only on a front cover sheet. Papers may be submitted in French, Spanish, German, or English, but must include an English-language or French-language abstract. Authors are requested to submit cover sheets, abstracts, and papers in one file in either MS Word or rich text format (RTF). Cover sheets should include the author’s contact information. Papers are to be submitted as an email attachment addressed to submissions@humesociety.org.

The Hume Society has set aside up to $2000 for the support of graduate students reading papers at the annual Hume Society meetings, to be given to qualifying students whose papers have been accepted through the normal blind-review process.

Submissions must be sent by November 1, 2007. Authors will be notified that their submissions have been received. If you submit a paper and do not receive an acknowledgement by November 15, please email secretary@humesociety.org.
